    Kennedy Valve is a gray and ductile iron foundry and computerized machining and assembly operation. We have supplied fire hydrants and valves to the water works and fire suppression industries for over 100 years in Elmira, NY.


    The Territory Sales Manager-Trainee is a preparatory position to allow transition to field placement into an existing sales territory. Once assigned to a territory the Territory Manager is responsible for all aspects of Sales, Marketing and Account Management of all accounts within the assigned territory.



    • Process Purchase orders
    • Process Material Return Authorizations
    • Manager territory and customer accounts
    • Work with Outside Salespersons
    • Perform general customer service duties within the Department
    • Conform to Quality Management Systems (QMS) and standards.


    •  Promote/Introduce Valve and Hydrant products to City, County and Private Water Systems across geographic territory.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing contacts in territory.
    • Make recommendations with respect to adding and terminating distribution in assigned territory.
    • Contact Engineering Firms, Contractors and Municipalities during and after the development of projects requiring products offered.
    • Attend Trade Shows / Conventions.
    • Work directly with Distribution in the process of specifying appropriate product based on requirements.
    • Inform and Train distributor sales people through demonstration and presentation of latest products and related marketing information.
    • Ability to troubleshoot new and old product issues when presented in the field or via phone.
    • Report all relevant marketing information/issues to manager(s).In general, the Territory Manager is a liaison between the end users (direct and indirect) and the company he or she is representing on all related matters. 



    • Mechanically Inclined
      • Must be physically able and mentally capable to breakdown moderate to complex mechanical products and relate product details to customers and factory.
    • Driving Record
      • Must have a valid driver’s license and insurable.
    • Work Environment
      • While performing the duties of the job, the Territory Manager may be required to visit live construction sites to analyze and modify existing product(s). While performing these duties the Territory Manger is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
    • Education and or Experience
      • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year College or University. Any related training or prior work experience is a plus.
    • Language Skills
      • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to

    effectively present information and respond to direct questions from; managers, clients, customers and the general public.

    • Mathematical Skills
      • Ability to calculate; discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.       Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
    • Reasoning Ability
      • Ability to solve practical problems and evaluate a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardizations exists. Ability to interpret various instructions as written or presented orally.
    • Computer Skills
      • Basic knowledge of internet software, inventory and manufacturing software. Ability to work with Excel, Word and PowerPoint software.
    • Physical Requirements/Demands
      • While performing the duties of this job the Territory Manager is required to use hands, fingers and arms to feel and reach. Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Must be able to lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
