Kennedy Valve Co. is a gray and ductile iron foundry and computerized machining and assembly operation. We supply fire hydrants and valves to the water works and fire suppression industries. We have been manufacturing these products in Elmira, New York, for over 125 years.

SUMMARY:

 

The Facilities & Maintenance Manager is the oversight of all the facility and contractor management projects (10%), this will Include oversight of both the Foundry (60%) and Finishing (30%) groups. Assist with maintenance safety, environmental projects, downtime planning, training, special projects, and scheduling work. This position requires supervising and coordinating the work of employees within the maintenance departments that repair, maintain the building/facility, and production machinery/equipment in the facility.

 

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work directly and lead Foundry and Finishing Maintenance Supervisors, along with Union Team Members
  • Closely collaborate with Foundry, Finishing, Manufacturing Engineering, and Executive leadership on coordination of projects
  • Oversight of facility and contractor managed projects
  • Integral role in supporting Maintenance Stores Inventory
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and monitor maintenance parts, and materials as needed for emergency repairs.
  • Develop and maintain key vendor and integrator relationships
  • Monitor and enforce safety and housekeeping practices including hazardous waste disposal
  • Directly involved in new hire process for department, coaching employees, and progressive discipline
  • Develop long range preventative, routine maintenance, and training plans for employees
  • Perform the following audit types: Parts / Inventory with cycle counts, Preventative Maintenance, Quality Assurance, and Operational Testing

 

 

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Operations or Project Management, preferred.
  • 7 years of related experience in facility operations, facility and maintenance repair, or related fields
  • Ability to juggle multiple stakeholder interests at once
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational competencies and project management skills to keep projects and processes on time
  • Initiative-taking attitude with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment
  • Interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Moderate computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new software

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing for extended periods of time, walking throughout the facility
  • Some desk work and working with a computer.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Exposed to elements, such as cold, heat, noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.

  • Work time is spent on the manufacturing floor and in a managerial office.
  • Potential for alternating rotation of 1st and 2nd
  • Minimal travel requirements to other McWane facilities and suppliers.
